Educators
Classroom Teachers
Ways to incorporate the Toobaloo into the classroom:
  • Improve oral fluency by having the student(s) read with the Toobaloo during silent reading time.
  • Students can read in a whisper voice in a small group setting and the teacher can walk around and listen to their reading.
  • Comprehension may improve with the voice amplified in their ear which can help to keep them focused on what they are reading.
  • Writing - have the student(s) reread the stories they are editing to help catch their errors.
  • Play practice - practice play parts to hear their expression.
  • Confidence - helps build their self confidence before they have to read aloud in class.
  • Motivation - kids love to hear themselves!
  • Spelling - have the students practice spelling their words into the Toobaloo
  • Math facts - practice saying the math facts into the Toobaloo
Alternative ways to afford a classroom set of Toobaloos
  • Parent - Teacher Organizations (our PTO bought a class set for all the 3rd grade teachers.)
  • Scholastic - Teacher's Bonus Catalog (use your bonus points to purchase them)
  • Parents purchase them for their child (downside: you won't have them for the next year's class)
  • Fundraiser (email me if you are interested)
Speech
The immediate auditory feedback helps tremendously to improve their speech. The Toobaloo amplifies the voice and allows the student to hear themself clearly.
Autism
I have had some very positive feedback with some parents and therapists. The Toobaloo may help encourage speech because, like most children, they like to hear their own voice.

Foreign Language - ESL
Students can hear their pronounciation and practice privately. Practicing a foreign language in front of a class can be intimidating. The Toobaloo can help build confidence by letting them know how they sound.

Music Teachers
Auditory feedback is important in singing. It allows you to hear if you are on key.
