Teaching Techniques for Children with Autism

Posted on April 15 2016

Teaching children with autism the same skills as their peers can be tricky. Try these techniques:

-Consistent schedules/routines

-Designate specific “areas” of the classroom or home for particular learning activities

-Incorporate an ASD child’s areas of interest into learning. For example, if they love trains, then use examples related to trains or books about trains in teaching moments.

-Just Try It – kids with ASD learn in many different ways. Test some things and see what works best.
